A visionary new opera collaboration between

Concept and libretto Norman MacAfee

who loves the music of Charles Ives and has therefore made it an integral part of this opera

and

Director and choreographer Beppie Blankert

who shares MacAfee’s passion, having made three acclaimed works portraying Ives’s life and music during her career.

This significant new opera is based on MacAfee’s concept of Charles Ives

telling the story of Metacomet (King Philip) and his heroic defense of the

Native American Nations against the invasion of the English in what

became known as King Philip’s War (1675-6).
