Seeing Giacometti is
a multidisciplinary performance by composer Elmer Schonberger and
choreographer Beppie Blankert, inspired by the works of painter and sculptor
Allberto Giacometti. With two dancers and five musicians of Nieuw Amsterdams
Peil they made a dance concert based on the book A Giacometti Portrait
by James Lord, who posed for Giacometti and wrote a diary about the sessions
without the knowledge of the artist. A film in which Giacometti walks to his
atelier is the start of a performance about an artist and his model, about a
process of creation and about seeing and being seen. The dance concert is
preceded by Duo concertant by Igor Stravinsky.
